- About NRIVA?
NRIVA is a developing non-profit Arya Vysya cultural and social association based in North America formed by Vysya intellectuals and Vysya leaders from all over the world. NRIVA is connecting all Vysyas around the world and serving the vysya community in India and abroad. NRIVA has NRIVA Local chapters in various cities in USA and in other countries, which are very actively performing different activities in their locations.
- What is Adopt-a-Student Program?
Adopt-a-Student is a program where you donate a small amount of money to sponsor the education of a vysya student who is in need of education. Adopt-a-Student program is designed to help the unprivileged students in studying Medicine, Engineering, MCA, Degree, Intermediate, High School, Elementary school and boarding in the hostel for education. These donations and sponsorships are contributions for the development of our Vysya community. You are contributing in someone's future, someone who is going to mold a better and brighter world we all can live in; their education is the key to make the change we all look forward to. By adopting a student, you can directly impact the lives of one or more students and his/her families.
- What are the different sponsorship options I have to participate in Adopt-a-student program?
Following are the different options available for Adopt-a-student program.
You can choose any of the options below that suit your budget.
Medical student - Approximately Rs.30000 per year for 5 years - $65 per month
Engineering Student - Approximately Rs.15000 per year for 4 years - $33 per month
MCA Student – Approximately Rs.15000 per year for 3 years - $33 per month
Degree and Polytechnic students - Approximately Rs.5000 per year for 3 years - $12 per month
Inter students - Approximately Rs.5000 per year for 2 years - $12 per month
School students - Approximately Rs.5000 per year - $12 per month
Vysya Hostel - Approximately Rs10000 per year for sponsoring the stay in Hyderabad. - $22 per month
Note: The sponsorship amounts listed above are based on average requirements. The actual amount required might vary based on an individual’s requirement.
- How will NRIVA choose students for sponsorship?
NRIVA is working with various Vysya Organizations in India to identify the students for Adopt-a-student program. We have partnered with multiple Vysya Organizations in India who are already in the process of identifying Vysya students who is in need of monetary help for their education.
- What are the guidelines followed by NRIVA in selecting a student?
NRIVA selects a student based on the following guidelines
· Financial background of the student’s family
· Profession of the student’s parents
· Merit of the student which includes the student’s grades, ranks and achievements
· Academic program pursued by the student
- How will Adopt-a-student program work?
Following is the process how Adopt-a-student program works
Choose any one of sponsorship options (or) multiple sponsorship options available
Contact NRIVA by sending an email to HUAdoptastudent@nriva.orgU with sponsorship options you have chosen
NRIVA will contact you and provide the details of students available for sponsorship
Choose the students you would like to sponsor from available list of students
Choose your payment options 1) One time payment or 2) Monthly auto payment setup through Google checkout
NRIVA will work with respective organization in India and provide the funds to the students
Student's profile, their photograph, and a certificate stating you have helped will then be sent to you
- Can I choose between the monthly and yearly payment options?
This would depend on the student’s requirement. For example if the student’s institution requires an annual payment, the donor is required to pay the yearly amount at once. If the student’s institution accepts monthly payments, the donor can opt for the monthly payments system. NRIVA would have to pay the student based on the institution’s payment policy. If you wish to sponsor the student partially, you can contact NRIVA.
- How long should my Student sponsorship last?
Your sponsorship will last depending on the sponsorship option you have chosen
Medical student for 5 years
Engineering Student for 4 years
MCA Student for 3 years
Degree and Polytechnic students for 3 years
Inter students for 2 years
School students for 1 year
Vysya Hostel 1 year
- Will I be the only person sponsoring the child I'm helping?
Yes. The student you're helping has just one sponsor: you. If you choose to sponsor a child as a group (for example, If you would like to sponsor a Medical student and share the amount, NRIVA will work with other donors and will assist to form a group for sponsorship)
- How do I recommend a student to Adopt a Student program?
You can recommended a student to NRIVA by sending an email to Adoptastudent@nriva.orgUP
The following details are required when recommending a student.
· Name of the student
· Type of Sponsorship needed
· Contact details like address, phone number and email Address of the student
· Current academic status
These details will be used by NRIVA to contact the student
- What are the details required from a student who requires sponsorship?
NRIVA requires the following details from the student in order to review and consider the sponsorship request application

- Is the amount I am donating Tax deductible?
Yes. All contributions to NRIVA are tax-deductible in the United States. NRIVA will either mail or send an electronic document to the donors stating the contributions made at the end of each year during the tax filing period.
- Can I know the details of the student I am sponsoring?
Yes. The details of the student will be published on NRIVA website and also you can monitor the progress of the student through NRIVA or by directly contacting the student. You and the student can have each other's contact information and may build a life-long relationship
- Can I contact the student when I go to India?
Yes. You can contact the student when you visit India
- Can I choose a student I know who is in need of help for sponsorship and help through NRIVA?
Yes. If you know anybody who requires financial help for education, you can choose that student and sponsor through NRIVA
- Can I sponsor multiple students?
Yes. You can sponsor multiple students.
- For any reason can I cancel my sponsorship after a period of time?
Minimum commitment is 1 year and you can cancel the sponsorship after 1 year. NRIVA will look for other sponsors to help the student.
- If I don’t like students’ progress with his studies, can I shift my sponsorship to other available students?
If you don’t like the progress of student, you can change the student after one year
